CAMPUS CULTURE & COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Academic League Congratulations
Congratulations! Our Academic League teams have wrapped up an outstanding regular season, with all three squads finishing with impressive 5–1 records. The Novice and Varsity teams each captured first place in their respective divisions, earning spots in the playoffs later this month. Their success reflects months of preparation, teamwork, and dedication across a wide range of subjects. Congratulations to all the students who contributed to such a strong campaign. Additional details about the playoff matches will be announced in the coming week.

Valley Center Stampede Rodeo Volunteer Opportunity
Valley Center will be hosting its 22nd Stampede Rodeo and Memorial Festival. It is entirely volunteer-run, and the support of the community is what keeps this event going each year.
Proceeds from the event support local youth programs, including high school scholarships, the Valley Center Rodeo Queen Program, improvements to Star Valley County Park, and military unit ball funds.

There are several volunteer shifts available, including Friday evening, Saturday daytime and evening shifts, as well as pre-event setup and post-event cleanup (check the website for more detailed shifts and jobs to choose from). Volunteer roles include parking attendants, gate access, ID checkers, ushers, security observers, hospitality, merchandise sales, and general event support. Most shifts are approximately 6–8 hours.

Each volunteer receives one complimentary ticket to attend the rodeo on the day they are not scheduled to work (for example, volunteer Friday and attend Saturday, or vice versa). Tickets are for the volunteer only and are non-transferable. Volunteers are also provided one meal during their shift and receive a signed Letter of Appreciation documenting their volunteer hours that will be sent via email.

They welcome volunteers of all ages! Every volunteer is appreciated, and each person’s help makes a real difference in keeping this community event running smoothly.

High school students can also earn volunteer hours to meet school requirements, college applications, and may qualify for Valley Center Stampede Rodeo scholarships. We’re proud to award scholarships each year to local students who participate.

To sign up, please visit this link, and click the red “Volunteer” button.

Robotics
We had overwhelming support these last two weeks, and we have the carpet we need for our practice field. We sure appreciate all who responded to the call.  We are six weeks into the robotics build season, and we are having fun testing our shooter and finalizing the robot. The 2026 game requires our robot to carry and shoot as many balls as possible, then climb three horizontal bars in sequence. Thank you for your continued support. For those interested in seeing what the game is all about, go to this link. To see an actual game being played recently by other teams, go to this link.

We will be competing in two weeks in San Diego. Here are the details:
The 2026 CA District San Diego Event presented by Qualcomm will be held March 20–22, 2026, at Francis Parker High School in San Diego, CA (Week 3).   This event is part of the new California District Model, featuring a 40-team capacity. For event updates, check the Blue Alliance and Instagram (@sdfirstrobotics) and this link.

WE NEED HAND and POWER Tools, so if you have old tools sitting around, we can use them to help students learn to be handy.  We are also looking for a low pile carpet donation. If you know of anyone that might be willing to give us carpet, we can use it to practice for the games. If you have anything to give, please either leave them at the front desk at ECHS, by the robotics lab or email tdewey@amhcs.org. Thank you!

Please consider a donation to these hard-working students. Your donation is tax-deductible, and can be made using this PayPal link.
